It’s been a long time since AB Marathon Plitvice has been recognised as a top-priority event for all mountain-bike lovers. Professionals, wannabes and amateurs gather in Korenica during the weekend to traditionally celebrate the Biking Day. Because MTB Marathon Plitvice is so much more then just a race. It’s people and their bikes. Teams formed into sport clubs, sport associations or simple groups of friends rent most of the houses in the wider area. Some of them are barbecuing, others kettling a soup, as over the years Plitvice became a huge party place on occasion such as this. A place to share the passion for biking and racing. retell the stories from excursions and discuss the gear, as well as anything else concerning this wonderful sport hobby. And then, on Saturday, the magic moment starts. Each racer fighting their own battle. Fighting a stopwatch or a friend or the closest rival, fighting a trail, themselves or the hangover from last night. But as soon as the judges blow for the start silence takes over. Only the sound of chains and the tires remain, and that glorious feeling that we love cycling so much for.
