Rabac, Istria
Rabac, a small fishing town in the southeastern part of Istria region, rightfully is one of the most famous and popular MTB destinations on the eastern Adriatic coast. The first bike park in Croatia was built here, MTB clubs from all over Europe are coming here for preparations, and leading MTB authorities are organizing their camps in Rabac.
The best time of year for MTB in Rabac?
May 7th, 2022. when the HELTER SKELTER MTB Marathon is on the menu. A race in which all MTB drivers who have something to show, all those who consider themselves MTB drivers, and those who strive to do so participate.
Difficult ascents and sudden descents. Up and down. Helter Skelter is fast, dangerous, loud. Cruel. No stopping, no rest.
A bunch of singletrails, steep ascents, long and fast descents, a combination of all possible surfaces, all spiced up with constant panoramic views. Singletrail overdose.
A beautiful location where the coast plunges steeply into the Adriatic Sea. Views of the Kvarner islands, Rijeka, Ucka and the tame interior of the largest Croatian peninsula.

*The race was named after a Helter Skelter song by The Beatles. Driving home after 2 days spent tracing the trails in January 2019, we were fascinated by the variety, technical details, speed and steepness, as well as with the pile of loud adrenaline and endorphin that the ride afforded us. An amazing combination of technically not too difficult, but for those who know and who can – an extremely fast sections, constant changes of rhythm and terrain, constant change of ascents and descents, a trail that simply constantly calls for racing. And then it played on the radio:

Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
And I get to the bottom and I see you again
