The extended weekend is behind us. The sun was out, the weather was warm again, and the roads and forests were full of cyclists. The shortened working week ends on Friday. And on Saturday, Krk’n’Roll begins. Baška. Krk. Sea. Roll.
According to the National Weather Service, the the forecast is sunny, clear and over 20 degrees Celsius.
The old saying “we left the best for last” is a corny phrase, but in this case it really is the truth.
Krk as an MTB destination doesn’t even need to be advertised, it’s no secret, but for those who haven’t yet felt it on their skin, here’s what to expect on Saturday:
The start is in Baška, then the climb to the moon plateau, an unforgettable ride, breathtaking views, the sun hitting you in the face and the breeze that cools you so you stay at the perfect operating temperature. At the first intersection, those less demanding return to Baška, hunting for a spot in the finish line, and those who ride the Classic and Epic trails continue to Vrbnik. Then on to Dobrinj, while enjoying the view of the coast. And of Velebit. A trail full of fun and interesting parts, it won’t be boring, and it definitely won’t be monotonous. The roads on this part of Krk are all going up and down and up and down, there are no long climbs, the tempo and and concentration are at maximum all the time.
The descent to Baška partially goes down the road, where you need watch out for traffic. You, as well as all road users, are obliged to act according to traffic rules throughout the whole race. On the way to the finish line you will pass through some fields and a few yards.
And then it is time to celebrate.
Krk’n’Roll is part of the Baška Outdoor Festival, where we expect over 2,500 people in total. In the afternoon, there will be various bands playing on different locations and in the evening Elemental will have a concert on the main stage.
