DALMATINER 2019 MTB MARATHON

Husqvarna Adria Bike Series 2019 moves south, to Dalmatia the Gorgeous, to Vodice – Dalmatiner 2019.

It’s the middle of the summer solstice. Days are long. The sun stands high showing no mercy while burning our skin.. Its glitter repels from the surface of the sea, from the rocks, from the sails in the distance.

Normal folks are looking for a shade to hide, but not us – MTB racers. We push the pedals further, as if there was no tomorrow, as if there was no pain, no thirst or tiredness. There can be no hesitation, no surrender, no suspicion.

Karst crumbles under our wheels. The lizards retreat in front of our tires. Snakes unsettle. The muscles are burning. Drops of sweat blink our eyes while water run dry in our mouth. It’s a hell of a race.

But it’s good. Irresistibly good. There is always someone in front you want to pass. Or pressure him at least. Because if you don’t, those behind will pressure you.

Although you are friends. Good friends.

Yes … It’s irresistibly good.

Vodice has long been widely known to Croatian mountain bikers. The shore, which in this part of Dalmatia doesn’t descend so steeply into the sea as elsewhere, formed the landscape of scattered limestone hills covered with mostly low coniferous vegetation.

The whole landscape is cross linked with trails, paths and macadams. Those are the roads that lead to the olive trees, the grayling, the vineyards. There are no epic ascents, no epic descents, but constant, technical terrain from the start to the end.

That is why Vodice MTB scene is strong. And believe us – when you come to Vodice to race, you feel like you’re a part of MTB elite. Because this is probably how it feels to be a part of the world MTB elite.
