Transfer information for “4 Islands MTB stage race 2016” participants

Given the unique logistic details of this race, which includes transportation of bicycles, people and luggage between the four islands of Kvarner, we provided detailed overview for each stage of the race. We hope that the text below will be helpful, especially to those competitors who have decided to organize their own accommodation and transportation.


WEDNESDAY 13TH APRIL 2016 

Stage start: Baška, island of Krk

Stage finish: Baška, island of Krk

Start time: 10:00

Stage time limit: 17:00

TRANSFER OF THE PARTICIPANTS: No transfer of the participants on the first stage

LUGGAGE TRANSFER: No luggage transfer on this stage

BIKE TRANSFER: After the finish of this stage BIKES OF ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS must be handed over at the bike depot (Baška port, Krk island), in order to be transported during evening hours by a special ferry line directly to 2nd stage, Rab island.

This ferry line IS NOT for the participants, it is only for their bikes and organiser’s vehicles.

Bike transfer is included in the starting fee.

BIKE DEPOT:

Before the stage: Bike depot is open 07:00 – 09:00 and it is located right next to the starting area.

After the stage: BIKES OF ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS must be handed over at the bike depot on a ferry (Baška port, Krk island) until 18:30 at latest, in order to be transported to island of Rab. Participants will retreive their bikes on the island of Rab at the start of the 2nd stage, right before the start.

Bike depot is included in the starting fee.

Important note: Bikes that are not handed over in bike depot after the finish of the 1st stage will not be transferred to the next stage.

BIKE SERVICE: During all 4 days a top class service will be provided by Giant, official sponsor of the race. All participants that wish their bike serviced, should request so at the bike depot while handing over their bikes.

Before the stage: Serviced bikes can be retreived at the bike depot 07:30 – 09:00.

After the stage: Bikes can be handed over for service in bike depot 13:30 – 18:00.

Bike service is not included in the starting fee and all costs must be settled while retreiving the bike. Bike service will accept both cash and card payments.

Participants who do not pay the costs of the service will not be able to retreive their bike nor to start on the next stage!


THURSDAY 14TH APRIL 2016

Stage start: Rab city, island of Rab 

Stage finish: Rab city, island of Rab

Start time: 10:00

Stage time limit: 16:00

TRANSFER OF THE PARTICIPANTS: Special ferry line will transport all participants to the Rab island. Boats will depart port of Baška in the early morning (between 07:00 & 08:00). Final schedule will be communicated during registration and detailed daily briefings. After the finish of the 2nd stage participants will go back to Baška, island of Krk. Expected arrival: around 18:00.

Important note: Only hand luggage allowed on the boat.

Transfer of the participants is included in the starting fee.

LUGGAGE TRANSFER: No luggage transfer on this stage.

BIKE TRANSFER: The evening before (Wednesday 13th April) all bikes will be transported by a special ferry line to the Rab island. Participants will retreive their bikes at the island of Rab at the start of the 2nd stage, right before the start. After the finish of this stage BIKES OF ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS must be handed over at the bike depot, in order to be transported by a special ferry line directly to 3rd stage, Cres island.

Bike transfer is included in the starting fee.

BIKE DEPOT:

Before the stage: Bike depot is open 08:30 – 09:30 and it is located on a ferry, right next to the starting area.

After the stage: Bike depot is open 12:30 – 16:15 and it is located on the finish line of the 2nd stage. BIKES OF ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS must be handed over at the bike depot until 16:15 at latest, in order to be transported to island of Cres. Participants will retreive their bikes on the island of Cres at the start of the 3rd stage, right before the start.

Bike depot is included in the starting fee.

Important note: Bikes that are not handed over in bike depot after the finish of the 2nd stage will not be transferred to the next stage.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to construction of Lopar ferry port (Rab island), regular ferry line from Valbiska (Krk island) to Lopar (Rab island) is temporarily suspended. Unfortunately, this special circumstance is limiting transfer possibilities and therefore we are not able to provide transfer to Rab island for supporters, due to limited capacity of special boats for participants.


FRIDAY 15TH APRIL 2016 

Stage start: Merag port, island of Cres

Stage finish:Osor, island of Cres

Start time: 10:30

Stage time limit: 17:30

TRANSFER OF THE PARTICIPANTS: Participants will be transferred from Baška to Valbiska port by buses and then by a ferry to island of Cres (Merag port). Departure is from Baška in the morning hours (between 07:00 & 07:30). Final schedule will be communicated during registration and detailed daily briefings. After the finish of this stage, buses will transfer participants to Veli Lošinj (Vitality hotel Punta), where their luggage will be delivered from Baška.

Transfer of the participants is included in the starting fee

LUGGAGE TRANSFER: Luggage hand over is from 6:30 to 7:30 in hotel Corinthia, Baška (island of Krk), where registration for the race were being done. Luggage retreiving is from 15:00 to 20:00 in hotel Punta in Veli Lošinj. The luggage has to be labelled with tags provided inside your starting package.

Luggage transfer is included in the starting fee.

BIKE TRANSFER: Bikes will be transferred to the start of the 3rd stage directly from the 2nd stage, from island Rab. Participants will be able to take their bikes from bike depot located at the ferry just before the start of the race at port of Merag (island Cres). After finish, bikes will be transferred to the 4th stage.

BIKE DEPOT:

Before the stage: Bike depot will be located in port of Merag (island Cres) and participants will be able to take over their bikes before the start of the race. It will be open from 08:45 – 09:30.

After the stage: After the finish in Osor (island Lošinj) bikes have to be left on a transfer for bike depot. Bike depot is in Veli Losinj and it is open 18:00 – 22:30.

Bike depot is included into the starting fee.

IMPORTANT NOTE for participants that have their own transportation to island of Cres: 

3rd stage is the only one where the start and finish are not at the same place. Participants having their own transportation (car, camper…) and aiming to cross to island Lošinj should consider the following:

  • To retrieve your bike from bike depot on time, you should take regular ferry line on 15.04. starting from Valbiska (Krk island) to Merag (Cres island) at 07:15 or even sooner!
  • We recommend you to engage a third person (supporter) who will drive your car from the start to finish
  • If you do not have a possibility to engage an another person, please be aware that parking in Merag port is not allowed. We have organized a parking lot where you can leave your cars and campers, which is 1,5 km away from the start. We will also organize another transfer from the finish line (Osor) back to the start (parking lots 1,5 km from Merag). The price of this transfer is 20 EUR and it is possible only by reserving it in advance on following e-mail address: office@adriabike.hr
  • As capacities for this transfer service are very limited, if you wish to book this transfer please inform us as soon as possible.
  • If you plan to organize accommodation on your own, we recommend you to choose accommodation in Veli Lošinj (hotel Punta), where transfers for the participants as well as delivery of their luggage will be organized.

SATURDAY 16TH APRIL 2016

Stage start: Mali Lošinj, main square

Stage finish: Mali Lošinj, Sunčana uvala

Start time: 09:00

Stage time limit: 16:00

TRANSFER OF THE PARTICIPANTS: No transfer of the participants on this stage

LUGGAGE TRANSFER: No luggage transfer on this stage

BIKE TRANSFER: After the stage: Participants who paid for their return to Baška (island of Krk), must hand over their bikes at the bike depot right after the finish of this stage, in order to be transported back to island of Krk. Exact location will be announced at the finish line.

BIKE DEPO:

Before  the stage:Bike depot is open from 06:30 – 08:00. Starting line is 3 km away from bike depot (road).

After the stage: No bike depot after this stage.

BIKE SERVICE: During all 4 days a top class service will be provided by Giant, official sponsor of the race. All participants that wish their bike serviced, should request so at the bike depot while handing over their bikes.

Before the stage: Serviced bikes can be retreived at the bike depot from 06:30 -08:00.

After the stage: Bike service not provided after the final stage.

Bike service is not included in the starting fee and all costs must be settled while retreiving the bike. Bike service will accept both cash and card payments.

Participants who do not pay the costs of the service will not be able to retreive their bike nor to start on the next stage!

 

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT LOGISTIC INFORMATION FOR 4 ISLANDS MTB STAGE RACE- powered by Giant

Accommodation: If you are organizing accommodation by yourself, we highly reccommend following locations:

  • Baška, island of Krk, in period 12th to 15th April
  • Veli Lošinj, island of Lošinj, in period 15th to 17th April

For participants that will arrive on the day of the race and will leave immediately after the race, we highly reccommend accommodation in Baška, island of Krk, in period 13th to 15th April and in Veli Lošinj, island of Lošinj from 15th to 16th April.

The participants that will arrive on the day of the race need to bear in mind that they must registration for the race in order to get start number.

Registration desk is open on Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00.

Ferry lines:

Participants that will organize transfers and accommodation by themselves will have to use regular ferry lines.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Ferry line Valbiska (Krk island) – Lopar (Rab island) is temporarily suspended due to construction of Lopar ferry port.
