The Husqvarna Adria Bike Series celebrates its fourth birthday. And it is packed with news. We have prepared some novelties as a thank you for all your responses and suggestions that you have sent us (over 500). Thank you once again for that. And now to the important part: What can we expect this year:
NEW RACE DATES
We moved the beginning of the season south, to Dalmatia, to Dalmatiner in Vodice. The hottest and sunniest part of Croatia is a logical place and time to open the Series. Therefore, Dalmatiner is scheduled for 18.4.2020. and the race in Rabac, Helter Skelter, was moved to probably the TOP date for that location – the end of May, more accurately 30.05.2020.
NEW TRAIL – ULTRA
We wanted to do this for years, and some loyal race visitors have indicated that they wanted it, so here it is! We called it ultra, it is about 100 km long and of course we decided to make it in Rabac, where the terrain is as challenging as it gets. The altitude profile is coming soon, but it won’t be at all harmless. Ultra will, of course, carry an adequate number of points, but about the scoring and the prize pool later. Another reason why Helter Skelter ended up with a new date is certainly the longer day and thus the longer time limit for this trail.
Last year we introduced two new races, this year we are adding another new one. We called it ISLAND HERO, and it rides on the island of Rab. If you have never cycled on Rab, this is an opportunity to experience one completely fascinating island for MTB. The island of Rab is probably the most unique and diverse island in the Adriatic. An island that literally has both a desert and a rainforest. Ask those who were already here, because Rab already has quite a number of MTB fans, it was time Rab got a real race as well. Date 12/09/2020.
MTB OPENING SEASON WEEKEND
One of the reasons why we moved Vodice to April was because we are, together with our hosts, BBK Orlov Krug, organising a MTB weekend spectacle for the opening of the season. With the biggest party makers and MTB lovers in Dalmatia. Thus, let us announce the first MTB OPENING SEASON WEEKEND in Vodice on the 18th and 19th of April. Dalmatiner MTB Marathon scheduled for Saturday the 18th and MTB Croatia Cup Vodice, XCO C1 race, on Sunday the 19th.
THE CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE
Starting this year, we have moved the age restriction for the races to 16 years of age. There have been so many requests and queries (and even sneaking in) in recent years that we decided to offer younger people the opportunity to participate. Those over 16 and under 18 will be able to ride exclusively with the adult and only the shortest trail. So they can also feel the magic of starting a race among 500 other cyclists.
FINISHER AWARDS FOR THOSE WHO COMPLETE ALL 4 RACES
We are also introducing the SERIES FINISHER award starting this year! All those who complete all 4 Series races, regardless of your placement and the trail you rode, you will earn a special Finisher medal and a surprise gift as a keepsake and proof that you have completed all 4 Husqvarna Adria Bike Series races. It’s not a small thing … it’s 4 races throughout the year, you have to work hard and organise yourself to reach the finish line. 4 times.
NEW RULES FOR THE E-BIKE CATEGORY
The big news is also being introduced to the E-bike (or E-MTB category). Specifically, we introduced the “handicap” factor into the race and thus put all participants regardless of age, gender, weight, engine power, capacity, battery cell density, outdoor temperature, and anything else that makes E-MTB racing “unfair” – into one category. Handicap exists in some classic, fairly reputable races, so we thought it would be an interesting format for the E-MTB race. How it will turn out – we’ll see.
With these novelties, we are entering a new season. It is still a Series full of smiling and cheerful faces, a place where so many people pedal. And full of races that every real cyclist is looking forward to. And that is a fact.
